Searching for ever more reliable and individual technology, Martin Braun now announces his own base movement, MAB 88. Rooted in horological technology, Martin Braun has searched out the best concept for combining his groundbreaking modules with reliable and available base movements. As introduced in September 2006, Braun now outfits his complicated watches with his own automatic caliber, MAB 88. This new movement is optimally suited to being combined with all complicated modules as well as future complications. The Caliber MAB 88 will now be used for all of Martin Braun’s mechanical complications. This new caliber has been tested thoroughly for two full years, and was introduced to the market in the beginning of 2007. The Caliber MAB 88 is certified by the Swiss firm Chronofiable, which has watches undergoing a testing period during which six months of wear are simulated. The Chronofiable test cycle not only measures the effects of aging on the watch, it also proofs push-and-pull forces on the winding stem and buttons and tests the reactions of watches to magnetic fields, shock resistance using a striker or pendulum, and water resistance. This eleven-and-a-half line automatic movement is very classic in both appearance and technology, undergoing no experiments and keeping the focus on reliability. Beating at a frequency of 28,800 vph, its single spring barrel offers 42 hours of power reserve. At 3.6 mm in height, it can be fitted into even the most elegant of cases – especially those watch cases featuring a sapphire crystal case back to reveal the movement’s fine characteristics: blued screws, blued winding wheels, a decorated plate featuring the Martin Braun sunburst logo over the rotor’s ball bearings.
